How to Get Unlimited Free WiFi on Delta Flights

If you’ve boarded a Delta flight sometime in the past year, you’ve probably noticed that their planes come equipped with WiFi. As with most airlines, Delta offer a fairly standard package. You can buy unrestricted WiFi for an hour, three hours, or for the full flight.

While Delta prices aren’t necessarily bad ($28 for the full flight), they’re far from a bargain. Because of this, I spent some time on a Delta flight recently trying to figure out the easiest way to ‘hack’ their WiFi, and get unlimited access for free.

The T-Mobile option

In addition to the options mentioned above, Delta offer a couple of ways to get some level of WiFi access for free.

One of these is that they allow you unlimited WiFi on your phone for messaging apps, such as Messenger and Whatsapp. While this lets you send basic messages fairly easily, it won’t even let you send images or videos. It’s mobile-only as well; the button to get free WiFi for messaging doesn’t even appear if you try to login via a laptop.

Another option that Delta offer is 1 hour of free WiFi for T-Mobile customers. This isn’t restricted to messaging; you can access anything you want from content to streaming services with this option. As above, this is a mobile-only offer. You won’t see the option to login as a T-Mobile customer if you’re on desktop.

Once you click to login as a T-Mobile customer, you’re asked to input your phone number so that Delta can check you are in fact a T-Mobile customer. Whilst Delta can verify whether a phone uses a T-Mobile sim, it can’t verify whether or not you actually own that phone.

This, coupled with the prevalence of T-Mobile phones, means that you can quite easily guess a T-Mobile number. I started off my guessing with 503-851-2300, which turned out not to be a T-Mobile number. I tried the next number up, 503–851-2301, and bingo; I had found a T-Mobile number.

You can only use each number once, meaning that the number above shouldn’t work for you. Not to worry though, you can either keep adding 1’s, or…
